Indoor Climbing - Leading Level Winners
-
For competent and confident top rope belayers wishing to progress their climbing to lead climbing and belaying indoors
-
You must have been top rope belaying for AT LEAST 6 months; regularly, recently, competently and confidently.
There are reasons for this stipulation - because there is so much more that you need to be aware of; hazards and belay skills, which are often not taught by your pals before they set off climbing whilst you lead belay for the first time!! (Common story!).
There is much more force involved in lead falls and more things that can go fatally wrong.
You need to have instilled that muscle memory working with a belay device so that it is second nature, this can only be truly done safely with a fair amount of top rope practice and confidence boosting exercise prior to moving onto lead climbing and belaying.
